When Louie's father paid him a visit at his new home in Oklahoma, he asked Louie if he knew of any other Germans in the area. In the German culture it was important that you marry one of your own. Germans married Germans. Louie told his father that a man named Heinrich Ochsner and his family lived nearby. Annie and Louie met when the father and son paid a visit to the Ochsner family.

After a brief courtship, Louie and Annie eloped to Wichita Falls, Texas, where on June 7, 1909, they were married by the local Justice of the Peace. Louie was 29. Annie was one month shy of her 18th birthday.

Through the years, Louie proved himself to be both a good son-in-law and a good friend to the Ochsner family.
